October 2002

Woo-hoo!

At last, my ISP have implemented form-to-email processing, so I can at last make Choggy.co.uk Interactive! I feel like the word interactive should be spoken in a big booming voice with lots of echo, but this is a text based page, so that's just going to have to remain part of my fevered imagination.

Of course, I'd like to start using this new functionality straight away, and so here is my very first piece of interactive content, in the form of a poll about the site. I'd love to know what you like or dislike about the site and what you'd like to see more of. So, here goes...

    Your Name:
    Your eMail address (required)

Firstly, I'd like you to tell me where you heard about Choggy.co.uk:

I'm a friend of yours, you numbskull!
Someone told me about the site and I thought I'd check it out
     I just surfed in here
I happened upon the site a while ago and check back sometimes.

Now then, which pages do you like and dislike?

    LikeDislike
    About Choggy
    Stories
    Photos/The Gallery
    The rants
    The fun page
    Techie blog
    The LARP page
    The Bike page
    Links
    Recipes
    The Site Map
    The Mystery Link

And before you submit this form, I'd be grateful if you'd tell me what browser you use to view this site and whether the content looks ok in that browser.

Thanks for taking this poll, I'll look forward to reading your results.

Thursday 28th August

Well, I've done quite a bit since I last updated the site... which probably accounts for my not having had time to update the site ;)

The two biggest events are probably:

Our holiday to Italy at the end of June/beginning of July.

Despite my best intentions, I've not yet managed to finish sorting through the 628 photos I took and the more than 700 that Sarah took to get the best ones up here, but I do intend to, and wrote a kinda "journal" while I was out there so that I had some words to go with the pictures.

    And "Renewal"

More of both of these coming very soon (watch this space!)

Also, since Renewal, where I was playing a character with archery skills, I've become extremely interested in getting back into Archery, having dabbled in it when I was in my teens (but I was never able to afford to do it except on activity holidays). I've been searching the web and it looks like a beginner's bow should be relatively cheap (under £50. In fact, there was one shop selling a very basic fibreglass bow similar to the type I used on the afforementioned activity holidays for less than £20!) and I intend to go along to Guildford Archery Club's meet next Tuesday and see about joining up there.

Can't wait!

May 2002

Well, I've not got around to doing any of the things I promised for last month's update. I have, however, finally had my car serviced. My excuse for leaving the 20,000 mile service until the clock read 33,000? Well, I haven't got one really, except that I've never had a car that needed servicing before. OK, I know that all cars need servicing, but when a car is 10 years old, you don't worry about it quite so much as when it's 18 months old. Still it's done now, and it's not due again for 7,000 miles. That next one's going to be really expensive though :(

I've also been planning for several things - Sarah and my forthcoming trip to the Continent, for one! We're going to Italy at the end of June, and will be driving there, through France (it's cheaper to drive there and camp on the way than it is to have two weeks in the apartments, fly to Italy and hire a car) I've also got to make a costume for a "Uniform Party" that Sonico and QTee are having this summer. I have ideas, but they may take a while to complete.

Most of the updates to the site this time round are in The Gallery. There's photos there from Sonico and QTee's barbeque and Tim's Birthday bash at Alton Towers both of which were lots of fun!

There's also a new mystery link over there on the right (behind the Fast Show quote) and a new section on the Fun page

Watch this space for more updates - Tennis Season is upon us again and because we're missing Wimbledon to go to Italy, I've (foolishly) agreed to allow Sarah to watch as much of the other tournaments as she wants - so I'll have plenty of spare time to be working on my web pages, while she's engrossed in her Tennis.

Until next time, Adios amigos

April 2002

OK, so it's a while since I've updated the ol' site, but here it is at last. I've added a new page, about Sarah's and my biking escapades. I shall be putting up some maps of the routes we take and some photos of us looking thoroughly geeky in our cycle helmets ;)

You'll notice also that there's a new link over at the right behind the Jessie's Diet's quote... head on over there and check it out.

I've also added a new page to my stories section, with some of the TV scripts I've written (I guess I should've called the page "the play what I wrote" but... er... they're TV scripts, not plays. Um.)

Welcome to my "new look"

Well, I think I've fulfilled my intentions to update my website more frequently. And if you've been here before, you'll notice that I've also revamped the look of the site.

The links are all along the top of the page now, and I've added a Site Map with a link on the right hand side of every page, along with links to my other sites - my Recipes site and my Photo Gallery.

The more observant amongst you may also notice that I've changed the font I use, too. I was originally using Arial, but have switched now to Veranda/Helvetica. I've long preferred sans serif fonts, but I've noticed that very few text-rich websites use Arial, most opting for Veranda/Helvetica instead. It's a subtle difference, but I feel it's somewhat clearer and easier to read, as well as being aesthetically more pleasing.

OK, you can wake up now!

Finally, I'd like to draw your attention to my "mystery link" on the right hand side of my page, behind the Fast Show "Jesse's diets" quote. Each time you notice I 'ave mostly bin eating' something different, there will be a link to a different site.

C U L8R,

Choggy xxx

Condolences

to the family and friends of Trish a.k.a. GPZ from the Gay.com UK Women's Room

I heard today that GPZ, who I know from the Gay.com UK Women's Room and also from a few Gay.com girls meets, was killed earlier in the week in a motorcycling accident.

I'd only met her off-line a few times, but had chatted with her lots online. She was fun and friendly and very easy to like and I know that everyone who knew her will miss her dreadfully.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

Thursday 21st February 2002

Neither Sarah nor myself will be able to go to GPZ's funeral tomorrow morning, but I know that a lot of people will be there. I believe that Ambie will be reading out a poem, for which I wish her luck. Also, to anyone else who intends to read a passage or say a few words at the funeral.

We will both be thinking about you all tomorrow morning.

Sunday 17th February 2002

Sarah and I went to the Fox and Hounds in Little Bromley, near Colchester, last night to celebrate GPZ's life. Neither of us will be able to go to her funeral on Friday 21st (details are on the Gay.com girls site) so it was good to be able to go and see all our mutual friends and try to get our heads around the idea that Geep's no longer with us.

I hadn't realised that Trish's Mum, Marilyn, would be there, but it was wonderful to meet her. She is a lovely woman and Sarah and I both think she was very brave - Trish was her only child and Marilyn has no nieces or nephews, so Trish represented an entire generation of their family.
